Kemper Equipment is seeking to fill the following full time positions at our Hazle Township Steel Fabrication Facility:
Applicants must be dependable, have basic tools, be able to read and follow blueprints, and operate standard fabrication equipment including overhead crane, ironworker, shear, press brake, etc.
The right candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate based on experience. Benefits including paid holidays and eligibility for health & additional insurance options are available after 90 days. Wellness days are available after 6 months of service and vacation and sick packages after 1 year of service.
Hours: 6AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday with additional overtime on Saturdays as well, based on workload.
Steel toe environment. Applicants must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Supporting our Field Service team, an apprentice will support the department with mechanical millwright, rigging and manual labor during service calls on material handling equipment. The apprentice position will shadow and train under our field service superintendents, learning the industry and equipment we service, while gaining experience with troubleshooting, repairs and steel installations of projects at Kemper Equipment.
The position is physical and demands hours of standing, bending and kneeling. Heavy lifting is required at times of up to 100 pounds, along with simple lifting, grasping, and repetitive use of hands.
Prior experience with millwright work, welding, torching, rigging and steel erection required. Ability to travel and work overtime as needed. Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must be safety oriented. Experience in industrial, quarry or material handling field (crushers, screens, conveyors) a plus.

Responsibilities include analyzing blueprints and/or job specifications for projects in the material handling industry to determine accurate cost estimates.
Work closely with the sales department to prepare time, cost, and material estimates; consulting with company personnel, customers, and vendors to discuss parameters of the job.
Resolve issues, confer with engineers and contractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and prepare estimates for sales proposals.
Work with manufacturing department to expedite and complete orders and will make any necessary costing adjustments to inventory during the project.
Maintain a contact and relationships with suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
Perform material flows and belt calculations using industry standard software.
Prepare sales drawings using AutoCAD.
Assist the Engineering Department on an as needed basis.
Experience in developing proposals/estimates. A minimum of 3 years' experience in an engineering, estimating, project management, or construction environment is preferred
Relevant experience: material handling and processing (belt conveyors, crushing and screen equipment, washing equipment), engineering, steel fabrication, and construction
Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in construction and/or manufacturing.
Experience utilizing AutoCAD
Familiarity with variety of construction concepts and practices
Excellent customer-facing and internal communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Project
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or related field preferred
Reports to: Operations Manager
Produce and check 2D fabrication detail drawings from 3D models utilizing AutoCAD.
Prepare Steel Summaries (Bill of Materials), Shipping Lists, and Bolt Lists utilizing Excel.
Release drawings for fabrication.
Work with fabrication shop personnel to answer questions or solve problems encountered during the manufacturing process.
Maintain CAD workstations, AutoCAD licenses, subscription renewals, etc.
Maintain equipment such as printers and copiers; manage paper, toner, and cartridge inventory.
Make copies of drawings and other clerical tasks as required.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
Steel detailing experience with knowledge of AISC, AWS, OSHA, MSHA standards.
Good organization skills and attention to detail is a must.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required (Excel/Word).
Must be able to communicate clearly and function in a delivery driven environment.
AS in Drafting Technology or related field with 2 years minimum experience.

Summary of Responsibilities:
To serve as CAD Technician and Mechanical Drafter working within the Engineering Department providing a support role to Engineers and Designers.
Perform lead design engineer functions and manage the design phase of multiple, concurrent projects within the engineering department from inception through completion ensuring all details are covered and requirements are met.
Prepare design calculations, 3D models, drawings, sketches, bills of materials, etc. for drafters, detailers, and others to satisfy the requirements of orders and customer specifications.
Prepare basic to complex layouts of plants, equipment, and structures.
Develop complex 3D design models using AutoCAD.
Interface with both internal and external project team members to accomplish project objectives and goals.
Prepare layout approval drawings for customer approval.
Check design models prepared by other designers for completion and correctness.
Work with manufacturing, service, and project management crew personnel to answer questions or solve problems encountered during the manufacturing or installation process.
Visit customer facilities, when necessary, to obtain measurements of existing equipment and structures for interface of new equipment and to attend/lead project meetings.
Required relevant experience includes: material handling and processing (belt conveyors, crushing and screen equipment, washing equipment, bins, structures, etc.), mechanical/structural engineering, steel fabrication, and construction
Advanced proficiency and in-depth experience with 3D modeling, design, and 2D drawing creation utilizing AutoCAD or other similar software.
Must have broad based machine knowledge with high mechanical aptitude.
Mechanical design experience with power transmission components such as electric motors, speed reducers, sheaves & v-belts, sprockets & chain, bushings & shafts, and bearings.
Structural design experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete foundations.
Must have ability to work independently as the design team lead while also promoting a collaborative team effort internally.
Must be able to analyze problems and develop corrective actions.
Must be able to multi-task several projects and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively while functioning in a delivery driven environment.
Minimum 5 to 6 years design experience in relevant Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering Field
BS in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, or related Engineering Field is preferred although extended industry experience will be considered in lieu of engineering degree
Kemper Equipment is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Design Team Leader. Kemper Equipment is a family owned business that provides material handling equipment, parts, system design and service to the quarry, mining and mineral industry. Our projects include custom quarry equipment design, material handling and storage products, new plant installations, and retrofits.
The successful candidate for Design Team Leader will act as the primary design engineer on projects and lead project teams consisting of other mechanical and structural engineers, designers, and detailers. This role will independently lead the design phase of projects from inception to completion through interpretation of specifications, design engineering, selection of components, creation and checking of drawings, and resolution of problems occurring during manufacturing and installation. This position is a key role within our engineering department and enhance our continued growth as a preferred supplier to customers both nationally and internationally.
